Motorcycling Leather Boots

A boot is a type of footwear that covers at least the foot and the ankle and sometimes extends up to the knee or even the hip. Most boots have a heel that is clearly distinguishable from the rest of the sole, even if the two are made of one piece. Traditionally made of leather or rubber, modern boots are made from a variety of materials.

World’s one of most convenient and economic mode of transportation. Its marketed worldwide suiting varied tastes of different people. But riding a bike entails a lot of dangers to safety and keeping this in mind biking apparel is what one should never ignore out of sheer careless attitude.

Boots are probably one of the most important biking apparels and a must have which a biker must keep in consideration. Good safety motorcycle boots gives much desired and higher security for feet. They have always been associated with motorcyclists and extend from above ankle to below knee. Completing our practical requirements of safety is the main purpose of motorcycle riding boots, and was never actually intended to make a rider actually a fashion symbol.

But when it’s understood and known that motorcycle boots are a must to have item amongst your riding apparels.

Boots are worn by motorcycle riders and passengers to prevent or reduce harm to their feet and ankles while riding and in the event of a crash. Tough, strong, moderately flexible boots with stiff soles provide the rider protection from a number of risks. Boots with oil-resistant, rubber-based composite soles give a grip on the pavement and help keep the rider's feet on the pegs. If the boots have heels, they should be low and wide to provide a stable base when standing with the bike. In a crash, boots may prevent or reduce foot and ankle injuries. As with jackets and trousers, boots should be designed specifically for motorcycling, using materials and seam construction that are impact, abrasion, cut, tear and burst resistant. Strong, tough, and flexible leather or synthetic fabrics have suitable properties. Boots should also have energy absorbers and load spreaders on the shin, inside and outside of each ankle. A stiff sole working laterally helps prevent or decrease crash injuries caused by crushing and shear strain.

Motorcycles boots are associated with motorcycle riders and range from above ankle to below knee boots They have an outside of a typical boot but a low heel to control the motorcycle. To improve motorcycle safety, motorcycle boots are generally made from a thick, heavy leather and may include energy absorbing and load spreading padding, metal, plastic and/or composite materials to protect the motorcycle rider's feet, ankles and legs in an accident. For use in wet weather, some boots have a waterproof membrane lining such as Gore-Tex or Sympatex.

Varieties of motorcycle boot designed specifically for riding a motorcycle on hard pavement (either the street or a race track) and are usually between 10 and 14 inches in height and made from a combination of leather, metal, plastic is usually greater than touring boots due to the increased potential for injury at the high speeds needed for racing.

Depending upon how form-fitting the boot is, to allow a rider to easily get the boot on or off, the shaft may be designed to open lengthwise. If so, Velcro is typically used on the inner sides of the opening to allow the rider to close the boot over the foot, ankle and leg. This allows for some flexibility for the rider to control the boot's tightness. Some manufacturers also include an internal quick-lacing system between a soft inner leg and the harder outer shell of the boot shaft to further ensure a tight, but comfortable fit. The heel of a racing boot is typically very low: not more than 1/2-inch, and sole of the heel and foot is typically rather smooth. A curved plastic or composite plate may be included to cover the shin of the boot to protect the rider's shin.

The most common color of racing boots is black, but other colors such as white, red, blue, yellow and green may be combined with black or each other in some fashion. Typical street riders may prefer all black, but racers may opt for a color combination that matches the rest of their motorcycle leathers, helmet and/or motorcycle

and/or man-made composite materials to create a form-fitting, but comfortable boot. The amount of armored protection provided by racing boots.

WHAT IS A MOTORCROSS GLOVE

The gloves used in the sports of racing over bumpy ground on specially strengthened motorcycles are called motor cross gloves or MX gloves.

Freestyle Motocross (also known as FMX) is a variation on the sport of motor cross gloves in which motorcycle riders attempt to impress judges with jumps and stunts.

The two main types of freestyle events are:

• Big Air (also known as Best Trick), in which each rider gets three jumps — usually covering more than 60 feet (18 m) — from a dirt-covered ramp. A panel of 10 judges evaluates the style, trick difficulty, and use of the course, and produces a score on a 100-point scale. Each rider's highest single-jump score is compared; top score wins.

• Freestyle Motocross, the older of the two disciplines. Riders perform two routines, lasting between 90 seconds and 14 minutes, on a course consisting of multiple jumps of varying lengths and angles that generally occupy one to two acres (.4 to .8 hectares). Like Big Air, a panel of judges assigns each contestant a score based on a 100-point scale, looking for difficult tricks and variations over jumps

The risk of injury is inherent in the sport of motor cross biking, especially in the more extreme disciplines such as downhill biking. Injuries range from relatively minor wounds, such as cuts and abrasions from falls on gravel to serious injuries such as striking the head or spine on a boulder or tree. Protective gear such as motor cross gloves can protect against minor injuries, and reduce the extent or seriousness of major impacts, but it cannot protect a rider against the most serious impacts or accidents.

Gloves intended for motor cross riding usually feature preserved finger sections and the best available protection, obtained through additional armour incorporated within the glove. Although maximum tactility is a noticeable starting point for motor cross gloves, additional protection should not be discarded. Additional protection may involve titanium or carbon panels for knuckles and the joints of the fingers. Furthermore, motor cross gloves may and often do add in additional wrist and other protection panels to protect the heel of the hand, back of the hand and other easily injured parts of the hand.

These are typical gloves made of leather or textile with Nickel protection covered by Kevlar. Perforated leather is used on fingers and wrist for ventilation. These gloves generally have reinforced palms anticipated better grip and to protect the riders from scratch injuries in case of an accident. These gloves also come with special straps which vary in size from small to 2/L. These gloves are also available in different colors like money green, white, black, navy blue, maroon, yellow, red, burgundy and even interesting colors like charcoal and concrete.

Motorcycling Leather Saddle Bags

Saddlebags are the bags that are attached to saddles. They’re designed to hold everything from sponges to sandwiches, and to fit on just about every part of the saddle. A must have for everyone who wants to be ready to hit the trail. Most of the saddle bags can be made from various materials, although leather was the traditional material it is heavier and requires more maintenance than many modern versions. Smaller ones are typically used to hold a few items such as tools, waterproofs, food, first-aid kit etc. We need to choose the closures for secure fit that doesn't slide and distribute the weight safely.

Saddlebags or panniers mount on either side of the rear of the motorcycle roughly beside (but not interfering with) the pillion passenger. "Hard" panniers commonly come in an injection moulded plastic such as ABS, and "soft" panniers come in some form of textile (e.g. Cordura) or leather. Saddle bags are nearly always attachable and often lockable, both of their mountings and their closure. Side-loading saddle bags are especially suitable for carefully packed clothing and taking into hotel rooms (like a suitcase), while top-loading hard saddle bags are preferred by other users. Utility top-loading soft saddle bags often come in a "throw-over" form without mountings or fixings, perhaps safely held in place under the rider or pillion - or simply loose.

Modern touring motorcycles often have panniers fitted as standard or they may be available as options on particular models. But most panniers come from local workshop industries which are not formally linked to the manufacturers of the motorcycle. The fixings of such panniers will be model specific, but the lucky rider may have a choice as to the actual case carried. Amongst many popular bikes and styles, Honda and Harley Davidson have branded and paved there way into the cruiser market. Saddlebags come in different shapes and sizes and are used as luggage or a container to carry around items. It is also a style or status symbol within the biker community, picking leather saddlebags.

Leather saddle bags are made from an unique double-layer leather construction. A top layer of choice top grain leather is permanently bonded to a lower layer of tough silicon-rubber treated leather. This results in a leather composite with a thickness exceeding 1/8 of an inch, equivalent to a superior strength 10 to 12 oz leather.

Since the inner silicon-rubber treated leather has an increased wear-life versus other leather, the products maintain their durability and strength longer than products with equivalent leather thickness. This allows the products to maintain their overall shape, whether empty or fully loaded, for many, many riding seasons. Unlike some other saddlebags, which will completely lose their form, these bags will retain their general shape and continuity and not turn into 'play doh' bags after a year or two.

YKK nylon zippers, stainless steel buckles and rivets, and is nylon stitched and riveted to a custom vacuum formed high-density polyethylene backing.

The bags also include an ABS plastic lining, that’s why our bags hold their shape so well. This makes our motorcycle saddlebags stronger, lighter and extremely resilient

A double-layered reinforced leather handle is riveted to back of the saddlebags. Included with the saddlebags is a 2” wide adjustable strap for carrying bags over the shoulder.

Amongst many popular bikes and styles, Honda and Harley Davidson have branded and paved there way into the cruiser market. Saddlebags come in different shapes and sizes and are used as luggage or a container to carry around items. It is also a style or status symbol within the biker community.
